Spotlight

Nimai

Nimai Marsden is a self taught, freelance Make Up Artist based in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in magazines such as Vogue Brasil, Elle, LadyGunn, Imagista and more. Her brushes have touched the faces of a variety of models and industry women including long time client and friend Dawn Richard, Draya Michele, Chloe & Halle, and Solange who has also featured her work with Dawn and other artists on her blog Saint Heron.

Booking mostly photo shoots and music videos, Marsden has proven herself as a well rounded freelance artist. Her skill set includes glam make up, natural make up, “no make up” make up, and creative fantasy make up. One of her strengths is her ability to work with darker skin tones. Although skilled in working with all skin tones, this strength has resulted in a clientele of mostly medium to deep skin. Because women with darker skin have been (and still are to some degree) neglected in the beauty industry, she is proud to be among the many artists and companies who believe beauty is to be celebrated from all perspectives equally.

Marsden is a child of immigrants, her mother hailing from New Zealand and father from Trinidad & Tobago. This is a major factor in her choices when it comes to fashion, beauty, spirituality, and life in general. She is a complex blend of love, art, and creativity. Hell bent on doing things her own way, she has faced many obstacles on her journey as a make up artist. However, she is confident she is on the right path and will continue to create her own lane in the industry. In the future she hopes to add special fx make up to her skill set and travel more as a make up artist.
